The two ships are part of a total of six new gantry crane ships for G2 Ocean, with delivery scheduled for 2029. The Grieg vessels will be delivered towards the end of the year.

The new open hatch gantry crane vessels will have a deadweight capacity of 65,400 tons and the following main characteristics:

  • Eight open hatch cargo holds with no overhangs, and a total cargo capacity of approximately 79,400 m³
  • Two gantry cranes
  • Tween decks in cargo holds, enabling mixed cargo intake
  • Future-fuel-ready, enabling alternative fuels such as ammonia and supporting G2 Ocean’s long-term decarbonisation goals.

“The Open Hatch business is the core of our long-term strategy. We are happy to be able to support G2 Ocean in remaining a high-quality, flexible and efficient service provider through this investment,” says Matthew Duke, Chief Executive Officer at Grieg Maritime Group (photo).
