Sustainability and ESG-reporting

We believe in sustainability in all we do and base our strategy on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. But to know where you are going, you need to know where you are. That is why we measure and openly share our data regarding the impact of our actions on the environment, society, and corporate governance.

Like most companies in the world, we have a way to go before we can say we have a sustainable business. Still, that is our goal.

In 2008 we decided to adhere to the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. Some years ago, we decided to base our sustainability work on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, deciding on five goals that are heavily linked together. We also pledged: We will restore our oceans. To do so, we need to handle the climate crisis. That means innovation. An to innovate you need knowledgeable people with a diverse background. You need to see every challenge from all angles.

Now we base our strategy on these five goals. We believe that is a prerequisite for being able to reach our goal: to build a sustainable business.

Cover of the NSAs ESG guidelines

Over the years, there have been very many different ways of reporting your status and progress within sustainability. In 2019, the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association started developing a guideline for ESG reporting in shipping. We are honoured to say we were a part of that work and decided to use those guidelines for our reporting. We also find it important to give you the facts clearly and without any biased explanations from us. That is why you will find all our ESG-data in our Annual Report.  If you have any questions regarding these numbers, please do not hesitate to contact us.
