BIMCO: How to reduce single-use plastics onboard

The maritime industry must take significant steps to reduce its use of single-use plastics aboard ships. Recently, BIMCO released a guide aimed at minimizing single-use plastics. We’re proud to see that our practices influence many of the best-practice measures.

BIMCO’s guide provides practical strategies for ship operators to minimize the use of single-use plastics, promote sustainable alternatives, and improve waste management. It highlights the importance of using reusable containers, enhancing onboard recycling systems, and educating the crew about the environmental impact of plastic waste.

We are happy to say we were invited to participate in this initiative and share our best practices, many of which have been incorporated into the BIMCO guidelines.
