Changes in the GMG Board

This April, Kai Grøtterud leaves our Board of Directors. In his place, we welcome Espen Gjerde.

Kai Grøtterud joined the Board of a newly integrated Grieg Star Group 15 years ago and has seen the company through its most extensive newbuilding program and financial tops and bottoms.

“Kai has been very important to us. His competence, understanding, analytical skills, gentle manners, and shipping prowess have been vital to making Grieg Maritime Group what it is today. We can’t thank him enough for all the time he has spent making GMG a better company,” says Camilla Grieg, Chair of the Board.

Replacement: Experienced shipping-head

43-year-old Espen Gjerde takes Kai’s place on the Board. Mr Gjerde has worked for Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA, first as Vice President of Strategy and M&A and the last two years as Senior Vice President of New Energy.

Before Wilhelmsen, Espen worked for DNV AS, DVB Bank SE, and SFL Corporation Ltd (former Ship Finance International Limited).

Espen also holds several Board positions in companies like Reach Subsea ASA, Massterly AS, Topeka Holding AS, Loke Marine Minerals AS and Hyundai Glovis Co.

We are delighted Espen Gjerde said yes to joining our Board of Directors. He has a background and experience we will need through the coming years, and we are truly grateful that he has chosen to share his competence with us Camilla Grieg

New owner’s representative

Grieg Maturitas’ new Chief Investment Officer, Paal Espen Johnsen, is also joining the Board this spring. The chair reserved for the CIO of the mother company has been empty since 2023, when Ragnhild Jansbu Fresvik resigned her position.

Mr Johnsen joins Grieg Maturitas from the position of Investment Director at Akastor, which is part of the Aker Group. He has an extensive background in investment activities and portfolio management in industrial companies and considerable experience on various boards, both as chair and member.
